American dead in fall from Pattaya high-rise

A 32-year-old American man died after apparently falling to his death from the 16th floor of a condominium building in Pattaya Monday evening.

The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was found at the ground level of the 27-story View Talay 6 tower next to the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall on Second Road.

He had on him a wallet, cash and a passport, Thai media reported.

Police checked the American's the 16th floor room from where he fell but did not find any sign of foul play.

Condo security guard Supit Lamsan, who discovered the body and alerted police, said the man lived with a Thai man and had a health problem that required him to take medication regularly.

Police have not concluded the cause of death and are questioning the man's roommate.
