Bangkok's infamous No.8 bus has retained its position as the worst bus route in the capital after receiving the most passenger complaints for the 2015 fiscal year, according to the Transport Ministry.

The air-conditioned No.8 bus received 345 complaints from October last year to September, or almost one a day, to top the list of the 10 most notorious buses that are privately operated under Bangkok Mass Transit Authority licences.

Complaints included reckless driving, driving on the far right lane and refusing to pick up and let off passengers at bus stops, bad-mannered fare collectors and drivers, and discarding passengers en route.

The Route 8 bus runs from Rom Klao public housing estate on the eastern outskirts of Bangkok to the Memorial Bridge.

The second and third positions were given to the No.1 minibus and No.122 bus, which received 330 and 188 complaints respectively. The No.1 route operates from Thanon Tok to Tha Tien pier and the No.122 line from Huay Kwang to Mor Chit terminal.

The No.8 line has long been known as Bangkok’s most notorious bus route. Non-aircon buses on the route, where bus accidents are frequent, received the highest number of complaints through the BMTA's 1348 hotline in the past three years and has been on the top 10 list for more than a decade.

The No.8 non-aircon bus runs from Happy Land in the eastern outskirts to the Memorial Bridge, covering 30km, which is a little shorter than its air-con version.

It passes a lot of important and crowded spots in Bangkok, such as Chatuchak market, Sampheng market, Victory Monument and Yaowarat.
