A "pretty" -- a product promotion girl -- who suffered a breast infection caused by a filler injection for breast enlargement lodged a petition with the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women.

The 24-year-old woman, identified only as "Paeng", yesterday sought help from the foundation in Pathum Thani province after she developed breast inflammation following a filler injection by a cosmetic surgery clinic in Bangkok's Lat Phrao district two years ago.

Ms Paeng said she wanted to enhance her breast size as a good bust size was necessary for her job.

She then decided to undergo breast filler treatment at a clinic recommended by her friend.

She did not reveal the name of the clinic.

She paid about 100,000 baht to the clinic to inject the filler into her breast and also around her forehead and nose.

A surgeon there assured her the filler was safe and legally imported from abroad. It would also remain in her body for only about five to six years.

However, after three months, she started to develop breast inflammation so she decided to return to the clinic.

She said the surgeon injected an unknown substance into her breasts, saying it would help dissolve the existing filler under her skin.

However, she finally sought treatment at a hospital as her condition deteriorated. She sustained several infected wounds to her breasts. Her face was also left deformed.

A doctor said the inflammation was caused by a counterfeit filler.

Ms Paeng said she had undergone four operations to remove infected skin from her breasts. The treatment cost more than 200,000 baht.

When she returned to the clinic to claim compensation, the clinic denied responsibility, telling her to file a lawsuit if she wanted to seek compensation.

Meanwhile, the foundation chairwoman, Pavena Hongsakula, said the foundation officials and the victim will file a complaint against the clinic with police.

They will also submit petitions to the Public Health Ministry's Bureau of Sanatorium and Art of Healing urging authorities to launch a probe into the case and inspect the clinic.
