Passengers stranded after co-pilot suffers heart attack

PHUKET -- Almost 190 passengers scheduled to fly to South Korea on Friday got a longer-than-planned stay on the resort island after their co-pilot suffered a heart attack and died.

Lim Hyun Soo, the 41-year-old South Korean co-pilot for the Eastarjet plane, suffered his fatal coronary while Flight ZE532 was preparing for takeoff, according to Thai media reports.

Lim said he was having problems breathing to so he was sent to  Thalang hospital. He received CPR en route and arrived at the hospital around 3.58am. However, he did not survive.

The low-cost carrier cancelled the flight scheduled to leave at 2.50am to Incheon airport in Seoul. All 186 passengers were taken to a Phuket hotel until their new flight could be arranged.
