The opposition will table a no-confidence motion against the government in parliament on Wednesday, though it has admitted that it will not be easy to deliver a knockout blow to the coalition.

Pheu Thai Party MP for Maha Sarakham Sutin Klungsang, who is also chief opposition whip, said the censure motion will target Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and nine cabinet ministers.

The motion will be presented to House Speaker Chuan Leekpai today, Mr Sutin said, adding that several issues will be raised to censure the government. It has been reported the censure debate will carry on over four days although the date has not been set.

"It will not be easy to floor the government completely, but we believe the censure debate will sway public feeling (about the government)," he said.

Pheu Thai leader Cholnan Srikaew previously said that cabinet ministers from the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), the Bhumjaithai Party and the Democrat Party will be targeted in the censure motion, in addition to the prime minister.

According to a source, the PPRP cabinet ministers to be targeted in the debate are Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin, Digital, Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, and Deputy Finance Minister Santi Promphat.

Two ministers from the Democrat Party, who may be grilled, are Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit and Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on.

The two from the Bhumjaithai Party are Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, the source said.

Gen Prawit, who is also the PPRP leader, said yesterday he was not concerned that he would be targeted by the opposition. "I am not worried. I have done nothing wrong," he said.
