Ung-ing announces pregnancy

Paetongtarn "Ung-ing" Shinawatra, leader of the "Pheu Thai family", yesterday announced she is pregnant with her second child as she pledged to continue working for the people.

Paetongtarn: Second child

Ms Paetongtarn, the youngest daughter of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, shared the news via Instagram after her father mentioned on Clubhouse on Tuesday that she was expecting a second child, his seventh grandchild.

"I'm excited about this journey because I have multiple missions to accomplish: being a healthy mother and working for the people. But don't worry; mothers know best. We can work until the delivery day. Your support is really appreciated," she wrote on her Instagram account.

Thaksin, who uses the alias Tony Woodsome, said during the ClubHouse chat that Ms Paetongtarn, who is visiting him in Dubai with her husband and daughter, is expected to deliver her baby next May. Thaksin also said he couldn't wait to return to Thailand.

"My seventh grandchild is a boy. Those who don't like me, you don't feel any pity. I want to come back to raise my grandkids. Don't you sympathise with me at all?" he asked.

Ms Paetongtarn, who is chief of the Pheu Thai's inclusion and innovation advisory committee, has vowed to lead the opposition Pheu Thai to a landslide victory in the next general election.
