Volleyball: Thailand beat Vietnam 3-0

NAKHON RATCHASIMA – Thailand grabbed their second win in the quarter-finals of the 17th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, beating Vietnam 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday.

The Thais comfortably defeated the Vietnamese 25-11, 25-15, 25-15 in Pool E at the packed Chatchai Hall. The victory is likely to make Thailand secure for at least second place in its group.  

Tuesday’s easy win came after Thailand, ranked 16th in the world, secured a rare win against powerhouse Japan in four sets (25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 30-28) on Monday.

Thailand are grouped with Japan, Kazakhstan and Vietnam in Pool E, while defending champions China will play South Korea, Taiwan and Iran in Pool F.

Kazakhstan take on Japan today at 4.30pm.
