Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha left his limo at home Tuesday after it turned out his licence plate matched the winning lottery number.

The draw had a first-prize six-digit number of 388881. The last three digits - 881- are the numbers of Gen Prayut's Mercedes-Benz sedan.

However, Gen Prayut did not use the Mercedes when travelling to Government House Tuesday. Instead, he arrived in a van formerly used by ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

After the meeting, Gen Prayut told reporters his sedan had been sent for repairs so he switched to the van. The winning lottery numbers had matched the numbers on several of Ms Yingluck's vehicles on several occasions.
