Sakda Sae Iew, the well-known Thai Rath political cartoonist who uses the nickname "Sia", reported to the office of the assistant army chief on Sunday morning after being summoned by the National Council for Peace and Order for talks.
He was accompanied by Pol Lt Col Amnart Hanchana, deputy suppression inspector of Bang Sue police station.
Mr Sakda said on arriving at the army headquarters that he had been "invited" to meet the NCPO but did not know what would be discussed.
He said he was glad to take any advice regarding his work as a political cartoonist for the mass circulation Thai Rath daily.
Mr Sakda said he cared the most about his colleagues at Thai Rath's editorial department and apologised them for any trouble he might have caused.
The cartoonist was once invited, with other people, to meet the NCPO about two weeks after the May 22, 2014 coup for talks abour reconciliation.
The NCPO has summoned a number of politicians and journalists for a session to "adjust their political attudes".
