Mahidol University arrange "Mahidol R-I-SE NOW" first time of outstanding research and innovation

build on knowledge to raise the quality of sustainable life

"Mahidol R-I-SE NOW', the first Research and Innovation Special Exhibition organized by Mahidol University. The Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT) together with Office of the President (Research Management and Development Division,  Student Affairs Division and Corporate Communications Unit) hosted the event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the royal bestowal of Mahidol University's Name and the 131st anniversary of Mahidol University. Mahidol University produces quality graduates and researches and has been ranked 1st in Thailand from many world university ranking institutions. 

At the event, many outstanding researches and innovations were presented. There were more than 90 exhibitions and dialogue stage to exchange knowledge on various topics. The event was held at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Yothi Road, Bangkok, Thailand. 

Professor Dr. Pattarachai Kiratisin, Director of iNT said that Mahidol R-I-SE NOW exhibited researches and innovations which were highlighted by all faculties and institutions of Mahidol University. It was divided into medical and health zone, science and technology zone, social science and humanities zone and specialized center zone. In addition, there were several university' s innovations and ready-to-transfer technologies which private and industrial sectors can be commercially used. There were also the showcasing of startup companies that used licensed technology from the Mahidol University.

Innovation for the quality of life, especially for ageing society, is also on the spotlight, including Health and Food supplements, such as the high nutritional value foods that developed from nuts and grains, and Vegetable Pudding, food for elderly with chewing difficulty and children who do not like vegetables. Gold Cordyceps, the Cordyceps grown by vegan-friendly method resulting in a better production of its active ingredients. Cultural, art and music works, the important part of Mahidol University’s strength that helps create a good well-being, were also present at this event.

Professor Dr. Pattarachai further said that at the dialogue stage there are many remarkable speeches including "Reviving Thailand with Research and Innovation" by Clinical Professor Udom Kachinthorn, a member of the Senate House, to understand the government policies for using various researches and innovations as driving force for the development of our nation, "MHESI: the New Ministry with a New Look of Research & Innovation" by Associate Professor Dr. Soranit Siltham, the first of the latest ministries in Thailand, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), to show that the ministry is ready to develop Thai research and innovation with a world-class concept, "Research Fund for Innovation to Create People and Knowledge of the Future" by Professor Sirirurg Songsivilai, Director of the National Research Office, to talk about research funding for creating the innovation excellence aiming to develop the potential of researchers. 

In the event, there were also a dialogue speech on stage relating to academic topics that will create the understanding for public, such as "Thai Cannabis with the Challenging Direction" by Dr. Premwit Jareewaruroj, an advisor to the president for research, Mahidol University, "Out-of-the-box Research: A Case Study of Malaria Vaccine" by Dr. Jetsumon Sattabongkot Prachumsri,  Director of the Mahidol Vivax Research Unit (MVRU), Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. 

There are other interesting talks for examples, "Digital Disruption and the Financial World Innovation (Near You)" by Mr. Kittiphat Damrongprat, Digital Team, Siam Commercial Bank Co., Ltd., discussed the development of digital innovations that will replace the existing systems with full adaptation to the digital finance era, "Dreaming with Science and Art by Dr. Tum" by Dr. Dissakul Prasitruangsuk, known as Dr. Tum, the famous young man with talent from the stage of MasterChef Thailand SS2 and CLEO Bachelors 2018, talked about a young doctor who has passion for cooking. 

Above all, Mahidol R-I-SE NOW opened the opportunity for students throughout the country to broaden their creative ideas for the pitching contestunder the topic "Smart Health", to present how to use technologies or various approaches to create the innovation support for good health of Thai people. The idea created at this stage will have an opportunity to be further extended into medical products or systems that can create a good living quality. The Winning team was NAP-ESRD who presented the idea about the novel and convenient method for kidney dialysis.
