MEA tips to prevent electrical hazards and how to check

Never overlook unusual leaks that could put your life at risk. MEA provides expert tips on how to prevent electrical hazards as follows:

- Turn off and unplug all electric appliances in the household without shutting down the power on the electrical main switchboard. Observe the electricity meter and if after 10 minutes the dial on the meter is still rotating, this is a crucial indicator of electricity leakage. Call an electrician immediately to inspect the entire electrical system.

- Replace the wiring if the electrician finds burnt or stained electrical wiring or torn or overheated wiring.

- The safety of electrical outlets can be determined by the ability to grip the plugs in sockets. If the grip is weak, this indicates a risk of overheating leading to conflagration.

Always install the grounding fault circuit interrupters and residual-current devices to prevent electrical hazards throughout your residential or commercial building.
