The cabinet calls for domestic support

to wear and use Thai textiles to conserving local wisdom whilst generating incomes among Thai communities.

On 9th June 2020, the cabinet agreed on the national campaign to promote and support Thai fabrics among domestic markets, proposed by the Community Development Department and the National Council of Women of Thailand. The campaign aims at encouraging Thai people to use or wear the cultural textiles as daily outfits at least twice a week as well as to promote the national heritage conservation which reflects social contexts and cultures of each community. Also, this will strengthen Thai economic growth and stabilize the economic security of Thailand’s bottom of pyramid rapidly and inclusively, as a result.

Everyone in Nakhon Phanom province proudly wears Thai fabrics everyday.

Local people in Nakhon Phanom province agree to wear “Nakhon Phanom pearl fabric”, its local traditional woven textile in order to inherit its local fabric wisdom carried from the previous generations and to generate household earnings across communities within the province. 

At Roi Et province, its provincial head takes the lead to be a role model who wears Thai fabric everyday.

The Provincial Governor of Roi Et, President of Provincial Red Cross, Government Officer Heads, Mayors, Subdistrict Headmen, community leaders including public and corporate sectors correspond to wear its community’s “Saket fabric”, the local textile which means unity. 

By wearing Thai-fabric outfits twice a day, it shall generate an annual domestic revenue around 105,000 million baht. The forecast is based on the scenario that 35 millions of Thai people buy 10 meters of the textiles for each person, with an average cost of 300 baht per one meter.

Wearing Thai fabric is not only conserving Thai culture but also creating job employments which leads to the stabilization of the grassroots economy in Thailand.

Eat Thai foods, use Thai products, travel in Thailand and wear Thai textiles to  stimulate Thai economy!
