Culture Minister checks ‘Baworn On Tour’ in Ratchaburi

Minister of Culture, Mr. Ittipol Khunplome, on 6 August 2020, visited Ratchaburi Province to follow up on the “Baworn On Tour” project and visit Wat Na Nong Moral Community, Ratchaburi Folk Handicraft Center, Tai-Yuan Weaving Exhibition, Sawangsuk Farm, Mai Pai Bridge, and Tai-Yuan Community.

“The Ministry of Culture has continuously supported the government’s Baworn (House, Temple, and School) policy to drive the country’s cultural heritage,” Mr. Ittipol said. “Each province has a model Moral Community, 76 in total, and the project aims to extend the target to 1,000 communities by the end of this year.”

Wat Na Nong Moral Community in Ratchaburi has three distinct culture characteristics: religion, principle of sufficiency economy, and tradition. Most locals are of Tai-Yuan ethnicity and have extensively preserved their culture, language, food, traditions, and dress styles.

The minister added that the distinctive features of Wat Na Nong Moral Community as a tourist destination are cultural tourism sites and unique traditions. These include a Buddha footprint view point and Mai Pai Bridge. Tourists can appreciate the local lifestyle, experience nature, cook ethnic food with the hosts, and go on to other tourism sites nearby.

“Wat Na Nong is truly an exemplary Moral Community for peaceful and sustainable society,” Mr. Ittipol concluded by saying.
