Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok has teamed up with entrepreneur and digital marketing philanthropist Matt Hunt, Director of ‘Neato’, to give back locally.
The luxury lifestyle hotel in Bangkok’s central green lung, Langsuan, discovered Matt Hunt and his pay-it-forward gesture through Twitter, where the ‘Boy from the San Francisco Bay’ area, is driving efforts to help all parts of the supply-chain through procuring, developing, selling and giving back to Thailand, through his #ShopLocalThailand campaign.
"As a small business owner, I know the value of support from the community and that is why I created the #ShopLocalThailand campaign. I want to build community and help local businesses grow while also building philanthropy for a cause that is important to me, as well as Thai people." Said Hunt.
This particular effort sees the purchasing of material from Bangkok suppliers that have been damaged by the Covid-19 situation. Employing haberdashers locally here in Bangkok, and developing the washable face masks to sell at a nominal fee, and giving back the proceeds to Elephant Heaven Sanctuary in Chiang Mai.
"Matt’s cause was sent to me from a twitter thread, and I thought the masks served a great purpose: Colourful, which separates a little bit of the doom and gloom the world is going through right now, safe and relevant during these current circumstances, but most importantly giving back and supporting ‘local’, which is very much a pillar of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, and showcased in the way we support local suppliers in our Restaurants and Bars, as well as amenities in our rooms," said Patrick Both, General Manager of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.
The masks that have been produced in the #ShopLocalThailand campaign are for sale at both CRAFT and the concierge in the lobby of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, where the teams will be wearing the washable and fully adjustable masks in two colours and selling them for THB 175+ (THB 187.25).
