PWA distributes free drink water during Songkran 2021

Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has announced the launch of a new sponsorship campaign to boost awareness of the Road Safety and Road Accidents Prevention Centre during the Songkran holiday period.

The scheme will see PWA distribute free water bottles to support staff and the public travelling to their hometowns or holiday destinations during the celebrations, through a network of national check points.

Furthermore, despite the festivities, PWA urges that safety standards should be maintained and that everyone should continue to adhere to D-M-H-T-T measures to prevent further COVID-19 outbreaks and to follow traffic rules and regulations to prevent accidents during Songkran.

Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior, said: “The coming 2021 Songkran, during 12-15 April, is the most significant holidays for Thais to celebrate and cherish Thai culture. And there is an influx of people travelling on the roads, as many people travel to their hometowns and for holidays. However, during the current circumstances, with COVID-19, everyone is urged to continue to practice COVID-19 “D-M-H-T-T” or “Distancing-Mask Wearing-Hand Washing-Testing-Thai Chana” as well as following traffic rules and regulations. In easing the burden caused by overwhelming road traffic, PWA is concerned for the public well-being and is therefore providing PWA water bottles at Road Safety and Road Accidents Prevention Centre check points nationwide, as well as reaching out to staff and volunteers to dedicate their time to help the public during the Songkran period.”

Songsak added: “PWA offices are prompted to provide sufficient water supply for the public during the long-haul holidays as well as accommodating the services for water supply works and transaction through three online platforms, including 1) www.pwa.co.th 2) PWA1662 application and 3) Line Official @PWAThailand 24 hours. PWA wishes a Happy Songkran for you and family.”
