Netflix appoints Yongyoot Thongkongtoon as Director of Content for Thailand

Netflix has appointed Yongyoot Thongkongtoon as Director of Content for Thailand. The Thai industry veteran joins Netflix with over 20 years of experience as a film director, producer and screenwriter.

His highly acclaimed body of work includes "The Iron Ladies" (2000), "The Iron Ladies 2" (2003), "Maid" "(2004), and "Best of Times" (2009). He is also the co-founder of GDH, one of Thailand's most successful studios which produced the global festival and commercial hit, "Bad Genius" (2017).

Malobika Banerji, Director of Content Southeast Asia, said: "We're delighted to welcome Yongyoot to Netflix. With his wealth of experience and deep knowledge of the Thai entertainment industry, we look forward to working together to create stories and ideas that are both uniquely Thai and universally loved."

Yongyoot will be based in Netflix’s newly opened Bangkok office, where he will oversee content acquisition and the production of Netflix local original films and series in Thailand.
