Thailand’s Tern Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak clinches British F4 win

Fifteen-year-old Tern Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak displayed flawless form to emerge winner in the F4 British Championship on October 24 at Brands Hatch.

The young Thai won the 29th race of the single-seat, open-wheel event which covered a total of 30 races staged from May to October this year. The championship, in its seventh season, features a mix of professional teams as well as privately-funded drivers.

Tasanapol, driving the No.21 racecar for Surrey-based Carlin Team, took part in the opening races in May against a field of international junior drivers. His form improved continuously, and towards the end of the series showed signs of great improvement.

The 29th race consisted of 16 cars but confident Tasanapol was able to clinch pole position, maintaining his lead from start to finish, despite being challenged by top-seeded drivers throughout the race.

“I’m delighted with this race both for myself and for the team for finishing in first and second places,” Tasanapol said “We have been working hard all year long and we gave our everything to eliminate our weak points (compared to other teams). Ultimately, it all paid off – thanks to AAS Motorsport for supporting me all along as well as all the fans who have been cheering for me.”

About F4 British Championship

The F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost is the UK’s premier single-seater series, the only championship open to 15-year-old drivers and the first step on the FIA single-seater pyramid to F1. It is the most remarkable initiative in junior single-seater racing since the launch of the original Formula Ford in 1967; a concept which helped develop and mould the track careers of so many of motor racing’s great names. Britain’s official version of the FIA’s Formula 4 concept was introduced in 2015 and is widely regarded as the most competitive junior category single seat championship in the world.
