A BALM for body and soul: Bangkok’s First Active Lifestyle Mall comes to QSNCC

NCC Management and Development Co., Ltd. is ready to make its mark at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) with the centre’s new shopping mall ‘BALM’ (Bangkok’s Active Lifestyle Mall’). The concept of the Active Lifestyle Mall was developed to attract health and fitness enthusiasts, urban workers and families with more than 100 leading retail brands, restaurants and amenities on site.

The new QSNC, with its convenient central location and access to the MRT, is surrounded by the 450 rai of Benjakitti Forest Park, a new green space in Bangkok that has become popular as a place to exercise among locals. The new retail space (11,000sqm), is divided into different zones, including food and beverage, event support and the ‘Active Lifestyle’ zone.

Discussing the site's potential as a commercial venue, Mr. Sakchai Pattarapreechakul, Managing Director of N.C.C. Management and Development, said: “With our capabilities in providing a full range of services for all types of events, QSNCC will be the new event platform destination in Asia. The redeveloped QSNCC is expected to attract more than13 million visitors per year once it has reopened in September 2022. Furthermore, we are planning to expand the retail space by 30% to provide visitors with more choice and an extensive range of services.”

Commissioned by NCC to develop and lease QSNCC’s retail space, Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited will bring the company’s expertise and experience in retail projects at Samyan Mitrtown and Silom Edge to drive traffic to QSNCC’s shopping mall.

Ms. Thiranant Kornsritipa, Executive Vice President of Retail Business Development of Frasers Property Commercial (Thailand), said: “It is an honour to be trusted by NCC to bring in our specialised know-how to the project. The ‘BALM’ retail space will serve the need of the modern urban population’s lifestyle. With its convenient location situated inside the QSNCC, customers can easily access the retail space from MRT transit and Benjakitti Forest Park. This will attract more diverse customers – organisers, visitors and those who are into physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle. We believe that BALM will be Bangkok’s gathering place for urban residents.”

“The project has received a high number of enquiries from leading retail brands and we are in the middle of the selection process with leading restaurants and retailers who wish to become tenants. We have closed deals for 20% of the retail space and expect the leased space to increase to 40% by the first quarter of this year.”
