‘Training on Enhancement of Industrial Policy Development for Lancang – Mekong Countries’

On February 9, 2022 Mr. Panuwat Triyangkulsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, presided over the opening ceremony of the international online training course entitled “Training on Enhancement of Industrial Policy Development for Lancang – Mekong Countries”, hosted by the Office of Industrial Economics. On this occasion, Mrs. Siripen Kiatfuengfoo, Deputy Director-General of the Office of Industrial Economics, gave the welcome remarks. In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and the Chinese Embassy Bangkok, the main objectives of the course were to enhance capacity building, share knowledge, exchange experiences, and promote network cooperation among industrial development agencies between Greater Mekong Subregion members and China. This event was supported by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Special Fund of the People's Republic of China. Details of the course can be found at www.MLCindustry.com

During the three days of training activities, the contents focused on industrial, investment, and economic development policies as well as practical issues concerning industrial connectivity among MLC members. Thailand’s experience was discussed with regard to its manufacturing and industrial sectors and investment policies. Topics included:

- Current Economic Development Policies: Moving towards Partnership for Sustainable Development
- Chinese Economy and Important Industrial Development Policies including Connection to MLC Region
- Thailand Economy and Industrial Development Policy Overviews
- Industrial and SMEs Promotion Policies based on Sustainable Development
- Industrial Estate Implementation: Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and Connectivity
- Investment Policy for Thailand and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in relation to MLC members

Besides intensive lectures, participants took the opportunity of the successful cooperation programme to discuss, share views and gain better around industrial policy formulation.
