Greatest Pet Care doubling its revenue

Greatest Pet Care beats expectations, doubling its revenue, thriving despite the pandemic, setting eyes to penetrate e-commerce market this year

Greatest Pet Care -- the major pet food manufacturer and distributor offering 10 leading brands such as Pluto, Silver, Great Titan, Lincoln, and Winstar -- announced its successful 2021 performance. The company was able to generate more than 540 million baht of revenue, an increase of 166%. It attributed people’s new lifestyle to its leaping success. The firm this year is drafting an integrated business plan to penetrate e-commerce, connecting offline and online distribution channels. It also aims to create shared experiences with its customers, while anticipating the new “Pet Parent” trend. The company also aims to generate 1.2 billion baht from the 30-billion-baht pet market.

Thanapisal Koohapremkit, the chairman of advisers of Greatest Pet Care, said that “the company manufactures pet food, using modern technology and machinery. Our high-quality products are produced in line with AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles. Our factories, which also make products for other companies and OEMs, have the capacity of making 3,000 metric tons of pet food a month. The company also has a research and development division that can offer recommendations on pet food recipes to clients. The firm has a wide range of products to choose from that are guaranteed to satisfy the needs of specific groups of clients. Greatest Pet Care is comparable to a massive kitchen that has all ingredients and experienced staffers who are ready to make “Product of Thailand” quality meals for your pets.”

“Over the past couple of years under the COVID-19 pandemic, Greatest Pet Care has adjusted its marketing and sales strategies to deliver our products directly to customers through e-commerce and online vending platforms. We also exported our goods to the CLMV cluster. All of these elements contributed to the increase in our revenue by 166% at 540 million baht worte of sales in 2021. This year, the company has policies to develop more products and distribute them to our customers nationwide.

Furthermore, Greatest Pet Care also aims to extend our reach to more international markets. Aside from the aforementioned CLMV cluster, we set our eyes on Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. According to recent data, there were 13 million new pets in 2021, which is favorable to the Thai export market, as the Kingdom is the 4th largest exporter of pet food.”

“Greatest Pet Care also recognizes that Thai pet food manufacturers are at an advantageous position compared to their peers abroad. This is due to Thailand’s abundance of resources from the agricultural, fisheries sectors, making a number of ingredients such as flour, cereal, seafood, etc. available to local manufacturers. These rich resources also make our pet foods more premium. Thailand also has Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with many trading partners, making our Thai deals more attractive. Pet food now accounts for 47% of the entire Thai exports. Greatest Pet Care has five main product groups as follows:

1. Premium Group: These are dry foods aimed at the premium market. These include Great Title and Lincoln.

2. Standard Group: These are dry and wet foods aimed at the middle market. These include Pluto and Silver.

3. Economic Group: These are dry and wet foods aimed at local markets, offering goods that are more affordable. These include Cherman, Dogger, and Ole.

4. & 5. Treat and Snack Groups: These include Starry Greatitan Snack, and cat snacks Cherman. These products are aimed at pet lovers who treat their pets like family members.

There are more than 10 Greatest Pet Care products in the market. The company is also developing new interesting products that will soon be debuted in Thailand.”

“This year, Greatest Pet Care plans to elevate the organization in terms of research and development, feeding the market with intriguing products. It will also place emphasis on improving production quality, developing human resources, and looking after staffers. Additionally, the company will increase more distribution channels by means of establishing more pet shops, supplying products at modern trade retailers, such as Top Supermarket, Big C, Lotus, Makro and CJ Express, to name a few. Other areas of focus for the company are forging its alliances in anticipation of future growth, expanding the pet food business, and increasing competitiveness in the pet food market. Greatest Pet Care aims at increasing the market share from 2% to 3% within three years.”

“The new normal lifestyle plays an important role in accelerating the pet food market’s growth in the time of global pandemic. It is also notable that family size in general shrinks, as newer generations enjoy being single, while more and more newly wedded couples do not want children. In addition, pets have become an integral part of the aging society. Furthermore, pet lovers have evolved into pet parents, giving pets love and care and treating them like family members. They are willing to spend more to improve their pets’ quality of life. These factors greatly contribute to the growth of the pet industry, which consists of 45% pet food businesses, 32% healthcare businesses -- such as animal hospitals and clinics -- and 23% other businesses such as pet clothes and toys. The entire industry is now worth at least 30 billion baht with room to grow in the future.”

“To recap, there are five key factors that greatly contribute to the growth of the pet industry:

1. Pet Humanization: the evolution of pet lovers into pet parents who treat pets like family members.

2. Friendly Pet Community: The growth of the related service businesses such as animal hotels, pet cafes, along with pet cloth and toy sectors.

3. The Improved Pet Healthcare Segment: The noticeably expansion of the pet healthcare businesses. Over the past five years, the number of animal hospitals has increased by 3,000. Of that number, 80% are small scale clinics, 15% are medium sized clinics that offer surgery operations, and 5% are hospital class establishments.

4. Dual Income, No Kids (D.I.N.K.), referring to child-less small families, including LGBTQ couples whose numbers are on the rise.

5. Aging Population: Individuals entering retiring age, especially singles who are looking for companionship from animals.

As all of these five factors have potential to grow, it is expected that goods and services related to pets will also grow continuously for the next decade at the rate of 10% growth annually. The figure is unaffected by prospective economic downturns, political upheavals, or even pandemics, as pet parents are prepared to spend on these goods and services to enhance their pets' quality of life. In sum, the pet sector appears to have a bright future ahead of it.”

“Therefore, Greatest Pet Care will focus on building its premium brands by emotional strategy, offering new shared experiences with customers and partners while integrating e-commerce business models, connecting offline and online distribution channels. The company will also use LED digital billboards in BTS and MRT stations and other strategic locations, in order to attract commuting customers on the road and tollways.”

“In terms of visions for management, Greatest Pet Care is determined to become a leading manufacturer and distributor of pet foods in Southeast Asia. The company strictly follows ISO 9001 2015, HACCP, GMP and SUCI HALAL standards. These practices are environmentally friendly. Greatest Pet Care offers quality services with reasonable prices. It also has CSR focusing on giving assistance to the society and animals in need, such as donating food to animal shelters.
