TMBThanachart included in Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

TMBThanachart Bank Public Company Limited (ttb) has been included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) 2022 for the first time in 2022, in recognition of its outstanding corporate culture of equality and its transparent policy to treat all employees equally.

This is in line with the guidelines for building a socially sustainable bank for the benefit of all stakeholders in all sectors, reflecting the bank’s readiness to deliver quality products and create a better financial life for Thai people today and in the future.

Ms. Vijitra Thumpothong, Chief People Officer of TMBThanachart Bank Pcl., revealed, “TMBThanachart believes that sustainability and business operations should go hand-in-hand. We take into account long-term growth through four operational frameworks, namely corporate governance and business ethics, business sustainability, environmental sustainability and social sustainability. These frameworks involve the development of human resource management, which is the cornerstone of building a strong organisation. Therefore, we place importance on diversity management, such as gender, age, education, ethnicity and culture, in accordance with international standards.

“The fact that TMBThanachart has been selected as a composite of the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index 2022 is a testament to the clarity of policies in operation that promote employee equality. It is extremely important for the success of our business to be known as an organisation that promotes equality and creates opportunities for women in the workplace to the fullest. The bank is also dedicated to changing operations in several new areas such as increasing maternity and paternity leave (beyond the legal minimum of 98 and seven days paid leave, for the mother and father respectively), offering a fair salary and bonus package – and transparently disclosing the proportion of compensation between women and men,” said Ms. Vijitra.

According to data from last year, 69.3% of the bank’s workforce is female, with 58.5% at the executive level and 70.8% in operations. Plus, female workers account for 54.1% of staff in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

“TMBThanachart has also laid the foundation for a corporate culture that demonstrates respect for differing opinions and treating one another with dignity because we believe that employees are the most important resource in driving business. When we understand and accept the differences in today's modern society, we will be able to pass on this approach to customers, partners, communities and stakeholders. We are ready to move forward and create a better financial life for Thai people today and in the future by delivering financial products and services that best meet the needs of each individual customer throughout their life. This is truly a key foundation for building long-term sustainability,” concluded Ms. Vijitra.
