Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, participated in the Inauguration Ceremony of the Swiss – Thai Friendship Sculpture located at Lumphini Park, Pathum Wan District. On this occasion, H.E. The event was also participated in by H.E. Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kingdom of Thailand, designers and creators of the sculpture from the Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, and representatives from the Swiss community in Thailand.
The Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) cooperated in renovating and creating the new sculpture with elements of the original sculpture (The Golden Jubilee Stone Ball Fountain) on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Thailand – Switzerland diplomatic relations as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Sanon said, “The old sculpture was a fountain featuring a stone ball placed on a rock mountain but after a while the sculpture no longer worked as it was intended to. Therefore, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Switzerland in 2021, the Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand and the BMA have worked together to renovate the sculpture as a symbol of the good and long-lasting friendship relations. Switzerland and Thailand, including the Bangkok metropolis, have long enjoyed good relations in various fields. It is expected that, going forward, Switzerland and Bangkok will expand mutual cooperation into other areas and the friendship will be stronger than ever.”
