Ajinomoto promotes ‘Ajinomoto ecosystem in Thailand’ at Asia-Pacific Symposium

Support for Thai farmers and sustainable production systems explained

As president of world leading food company and private sector contributor to sustainable agriculture and food systems in Thailand, Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., Mr. Ichiro Sakakura was recently invited to join a panel discussion at "Asia-Pacific Symposium on AGRIFOOD Systems Transformation", organised as a hybrid event by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel.

The symposium was a meeting of ministers and senior officials at regional level with the key objective of following up on the results of the UN Food Systems Summit and Nutrition for Growth Summit held in 2021. The symposium heard extensive discussions led by senior leaders, including a panel discussion with private sector representatives addressing five mission critical issues, or 5Fs, namely Food, Feed, Fuel, Fertilizer, and Finance.

One of the five outstanding private sector panellists, Mr. Sakakura spoke on the topic of AGRIFOOD Systems Transformation by Ajinomoto Group relating to sustainable agriculture and food systems driving the Ajinomoto ecosystem in Thailand, particularly in relation to research and innovation technology development, with the aim of value-added agricultural products.

At the same time, it has been creating value-added in the Thai agricultural sector through its "Thai Farmers, Better Life Partner" project. As one of the biggest users of tapioca starch, the project aims to improve the quality of life of Thai farmers by providing the knowledge they need, especially with respect to cassava. the deployment of the policy is based on innovative technology and onsite collaboration. The company continually invests in consumer demand research and technology development to deliver value through products and services. At the same time, it operates in responsible ways with respect to society, local communities, and sustainable environment.
