Krirk University ranked 149th in QS Asia University Rankings 2023 and 5th in Thailand, awarded QS Five Stars

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) hosted the Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific in Jakarta, Indonesia on 8 November 2022. Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin attended the event and delivered a speech. Assoc. Prof.Pasit Lorterapong (Ph.D.), Deputy Permanent Secretary from Ministry of Higher Education, Science,Research and Innovation of Thailand, also made a speech. Many universities in the Asia Pacific region joined the event.

QS is a global higher education research organisation that provides information and data on the global higher education sector, and has become one of the world's most authoritative university rankings.

QS released its latest Asia university rankings 2023. The ranking has the highest number of universities ever ranked, with 760 universities selected from over 8,000 higher education institutions in Asia. Six universities in Thailand are ranked in the first tier of the QS Top 150 Asia Universities, including Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, Thammasat University, Krirk University, and Kasetsart University.

The QS Asia University Rankings is a comprehensive assessment of the strength of universities in teaching and research. The universities ranked in the top tier are historic and funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Krirk University is the only private university ranked in the top 150 in QS Asia University Rankings 2023, 34th in Southeast Asia, and 5th in Thailand.

QS stresses that “With over 30,000 universities in the world, entering a QS ranking is no easy feat and is a sign that a university is providing a certain quality education to its students as well as producing meaningful research for the wider academic community. These institutions typically offer a comprehensive range of subjects to a high standard, and by entering our rankings are demonstrating to students that they are a solid option for a student's academic journey".

QS Star is a globally recognised standard for assessing the educational performance of higher education institutions on a scale of 0 to 5 stars across eight categories. In 2022, only 83 universities received 5 stars out of 1,200 universities worldwide, only 23 universities in Asia receiving 5 stars out of 650 universities. In Thailand, only three universities, Mahidol University, Krirk University, and Asian Institute of Technology, received a 5-star rating.

Among the universities attending the summit, Krirk University is the first entry into QS Asia University Rankings at 149, and also received a 5 stars award for achieving Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Academic development.

A delegation of Krirk University, Dr. Zhang Xuwei, Vice President, Dr. John Walsh, Associate Dean, and Dr. Yu-Chih Lin, Associate Dean (Academic), of International College, attended the Summit to receive the Certificate. Vice President Zhang Xuwei said, "We are honoured to receive this award! Please deliver our sincere thanks to QS. It is thanks to the contributions of all our staff and students. Krirk University would like to say thank you to every faculty member who has devoted themselves to teaching and research. We will continue doing our utmost to raise the standard of teaching and research to ensure that we provide the highest quality education and services to our students. It is very encouraging to see what we have achieved today, and we will inspire us to strive to do even better going forward.”
