“WeTV” underlines 3X strategy to increase Thai content expansion

Joining hands with leading content distributor “Contents Seven” to Introduce two WeTV ORIGINAL Y-Series to the Japanese market

WeTV, the best Asian entertainment platform, reaffirms its position as the leader in video streaming application that drives Thai contents towards international market. The company continues its "3X: Expansion – Extra Experience – Exclusivity" marketing strategy by focusing on the Expansion, which is expanding outreach access to WeTV’s contents across the Southeast Asian market. 

Recently, the company penetrated the Japanese market by joining forces with Japanese content distributor Contents Seven which bought the copyrights of two WeTV ORIGINAL Y series titled “609 Bedtime Story”, a fantasy Boy’s Love series, and “Love Mechanics”, romantic-drama Boy’s Love series. Such copyrighted access enables the Japanese audience to enjoy more contents from WeTV broadcasted through various channels. The business partnership is expected to serve as a significant driving force for WeTV to achieve its three-fold growth target to become the second biggest video streaming platform in Southeast Asia by 2023 and transforming Thai contents into a soft power for Thailand’s regional and global reputation.

The partnership kickstarts with Thai Y series which are very popular among the audience. Contents Seven have purchased the copyrights to two WeTV series namely ‘609 Bedtime Story’ and ‘Love Mechanics’ so that the Japanese audience can access to more Thai contents from WeTV.”

Currently, the two Y series are available on Japan’s video streaming platform. “609 Bedtime Story” is a fantasy Y series where for the first time ever the audience can choose the ending of the series themselves. Broadcasted simultaneously (Simulcast) with Thailand, “609 Bedtime Story” follows a couple from two parallel worlds in different universes who meet each other in Room 609 every day at midnight. The series ranks number one in the Boy’s Love (BL) category and in Rakuten TV’s Daily Ranking category immediately after the first and second episodes were aired. “Love Mechanics”, on the other hand” tells a school love story of engineering students. The series is still popular even after its premiere, remaining in the top ranking of Rakuten TV in the Boy’s Love (BL) category.
