WeTV reaffirmed its status as the best Asian entertainment platform with a strong community of fans by announcing ‘WeTV AWARDS 2022’ winners.
The second annual event of the ultimate awards program for Asian entertainment let users vote the nominees and winners in 11 award categories on various channels early this year.
In the spotlight was the ‘WeTV Artist of the Year’ award that attracted over 1.6 million votes via ‘Flying Comment’ and ‘Send Love’ features on WeTV application as well as voting on TikTok. This year, the award went to “Choi Young-jae”, better known as “Youngjae GOT7”, for his starring role in “Love and Wish” that also secured the ‘Best Korean Series’ award. Other big winners include “Love Mechanics” from WeTV ORIGINAL that bagged two awards and “Xiao Zhan”, whose works won three awards.
Ms. Kanokporn Prachayaset, Chief Commercial Officer and Country Manager of WeTV Thailand, Tencent (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “WeTV continues to tighten our ties with the users and the community of Asian entertainment fans by bringing WeTV AWARDS to its second year to build up their engagement and deliver exclusive experience to our users. This year, WeTV AWARDS 2022 witnessed an enthusiastic response from Thais who love Asian content, as evidenced by the 10.5 million votes they made to nominate their favourite artists and works for the awards in just three weeks after the launch of our voting campaign.”
“The ‘WeTV Artist of the Year’ award was obviously in the spotlight of fans, having created an enormous voting spree on social media platforms. Among them, view counts, likes and shares of the videos on WeTV Thailand TikTok account generated over 1.1 million votes. The newly added ‘Send Love’ feature also engaged our users very well, with 63% of them voting through this feature. The most voted award via ‘Send Love’ feature was ‘WeTV Best Actor’. All these favourable results clearly reflect the strength of our community and the impact of exclusive user engagement created by WeTV.”
Based on voting across all channels plus ‘Send Love’ counts, the ‘WeTV Artist of the Year’ award went to Choi Young-jae, better known as Youngjae GOT7 who made the crossover from singing to acting for the first time in the Korean series “Love and Wish”. Viewable exclusively on WeTV, this series is about romantic love, friendship, growth, and relationship drama of high school teens. Youngjae’s role in this series won him great feedback, encouragement, and massive votes from the Ahgase fandom to establish him as the ‘WeTV Artist of the Year’. Moreover, “Love and Wish” also bagged the ‘Best of Korean Series’ award.

9. WeTV Best Actor – Xiao Zhan
10. WeTV Best Actress – Zhao Lusi

Starring in “Love Mechanics” that won the Best Thai Series and Best Y-series awards, “Yin Anan” shared his feelings and thanked supportive fans: “We are overjoyed that ‘Love Mechanics’ won two awards. We also owe it to WeTV as the platform that makes this piece of work fully viewable to our fans.”
