Chinese EV Giant AION Goes Global, Opening First Overseas Branch in Bangkok

AION, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant, has signed its first memorandum of understanding for business cooperation with GOLD INTEGRATE, its first overseas distributor. The company also announced the establishment of a subsidiary in Thailand, marking AION's entry into the global market and the beginning of an exciting journey to bring top-tier Chinese EV technology to the rest of the world.

The MOU signing took place on June 28, in the presence of several officials, including a leader from China's Guangdong Provincial Government, China's Ambassador to Thailand, and the Mayor of Bangkok, Thailand's capital city.

Thailand holds significant importance as a market for overseas development for GAC AION due to its position as the largest automobile manufacturer and exporter in the region, as well as its status as the largest domestic EV market. Therefore, establishing a strong presence in Thailand becomes a top priority for AION's internationalisation efforts.

The Thai government has implemented favourable policies supporting the development of the EV industry. Combined with the growth potential of the domestic market, Thailand offers rich future potential for development, making it an ideal location in the region for AION's subsidiary branch.

Apart from being the site of AION's first overseas branch, Thailand will also host AION's headquarters in Southeast Asia, playing a core supporting role in the overall regional Southeast Asian market and serving as a hub for AION's future business expansion into surrounding areas.

The first GAC AION subsidiary sales location will be established in Thailand by July of this year, taking charge of market development. Additionally, preparations for production will commence at a manufacturing subsidiary.

To prepare for the upcoming launch of AION cars in the Thai market in the third quarter of this year, AION will actively collaborate with reputable and influential local dealerships. This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the establishment of a robust distribution infrastructure, with the goal of building no fewer than 30 distribution outlets within the year. This will cover major local markets and create a comprehensive and customer-centric service experience.

AION's expansion into Thailand will introduce a range of new technologies and products to Thai consumers and producers, opening significant new pathways in the field of smart travel. The company will also bring its proven, fast, and efficient online and in-person sales networks, marketing capabilities, and strong service capabilities to support market growth and enhance user experience in Thailand and beyond.

Achieving Global Integration: Introducing High-Quality EVs to Thailand

New energy vehicles represent the beginning of a greener industrial chain. AION actively pursues the goal of zero-carbon car life cycles, and the export of these green, low-carbon development concepts will benefit the long-term development of Thailand, helping create sustainable corporate models and values.

As the first step in AION's internationalisation process, Thailand is likely to benefit the most from subsidiary sales growth and become the site of significant experience accumulation. The expansion will bring employment opportunities and local economic growth, making it a win-win project.

AION is one of the few car companies worldwide with full-stack self-research capabilities for both EVs and internal combustion vehicles (ICVs). The company has mastered several world-leading, independent, and controllable key technologies, including batteries, electric drives, and electronic controls.

AION has utilised these technologies to develop six outstanding, intelligent pure electric models: the AION S, V, Y, LX, Hyper GT, and Hyper SSR. Among them, the AION LX has surpassed industry standards by offering an impressive EV battery range of 1,008 km. Additionally, the AION Hyper SSR boasts an extraordinary acceleration capacity, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds.

As AION expands into Thailand and Southeast Asia, it is fully prepared to globalise its world-class technology and showcase its exceptional vehicles to a wider audience.
