Srinakharinwirot University achieved a series of prestigious accolades from the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ASIC) on August 17, 2023. ASIC, in accordance with the United Kingdom's international standards, grants certifications to educational institutions worldwide, including international schools, colleges, and universities.
Dr. Maurice Kenneth, Chairman of ASIC, along with an evaluation team, presented a certificate plaque to the President of Srinakharinwirot University during the award ceremony. The university was bestowed with the ASIC Certificate of Accreditation for Premier Institution, along with three distinguished awards:
- Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Leadership
- Chairman’s Excellence Award – Outstanding Student Care and Support
- Chairman’s Excellence Award – Research, Development, and Innovation
The ceremony garnered attention from distinguished guests including Ms. Nantamas Chatraporn, Trade Manager from the British Embassy in Bangkok, and Mr. Panpermsak Arunee, a human resources expert from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. Both guests extended warm congratulations to Srinakharinwirot University for its remarkable achievements.
Notably, prior to its ASIC Awards, Srinakharinwirot University was granted funding by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation for its participation in the renowned QS Stars University Ratings by QS Quacquarelli Symonds Limited. This UK-based organisation evaluates and accredits universities worldwide, assessing various aspects such as teaching, employability, research, facilities, and more. The university aimed to improve its international standing through the QS Stars ratings, striving to elevate its current three-star status to a remarkable five stars.
Dr. Chumpol Phornprapha, Vice Chairman of the Srinakharinwirot University Council, advised the university's management to meticulously analyse ASIC's evaluation criteria, enhancing internationalisation efforts and operational standards. After careful examination, it was revealed that ASIC's accreditation is based on six crucial factors: health and safety, management and staff resources, learning and teaching, student welfare, awards and qualifications, and marketing and student recruitment. Eager to fortify its internationalisation and operational benchmarks, Srinakharinwirot University formally applied for ASIC evaluation and accreditation on March 15 and 16, 2023, culminating in the recent award ceremony.
With these distinguished awards, Srinakharinwirot University anticipates a successful journey towards enhanced internationalisation, solidifying its position as a leading Thai institution on the global stage. The university's international accreditation holds significance not only for its own advancement but also for the broader landscape of Thai universities. This recognition serves as a catalyst for universities across the nation to aspire to greater heights, continually contributing to Thailand's competitiveness on the international education landscape.
