MEA's Energy Mind Award Season 2 Empowers Students

MEA fosters green leadership among students in energy conservation.

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), led by Nipa Thamborvorn, Assistant Governor and representative of the Energy Mind Award honourable committee, collaborated on the 4th Students Capability Development program to promote energy conservation and environmental preservation.

The 2023 Energy Mind Award Season 2 aimed to instil a "Green Youth" ethos in students from 55 participating schools nationwide. The program provided training on energy-saving practices, systematic energy conservation, as well as energy planning and implementation within schools.

Utilising edutainment activities, the workshop engaged students in learning through activities such as "Know Me-Know You," Nature Trace and Track, "Dear Buddy," When the World is Powerless, Sri Nakarin Dam Electricity Generation, Walk Rally in the Energy-Driven World, Energy Saving and Environment Preservation Learning Base, Refuel for Energy, Youth Leaders for Power Preservation, Morning Birds Watch & Shoot, Green Youth empowerment on School Energy, and the School Energy and Environmental Exploration Training.

These activities aimed to elevate participating schools as exemplars in energy conservation and environmental preservation. In 2023, a total of 220 students participated in the 4th iteration of the program, held from August 25th to 27th at the Ruam Tawan Center in Karnchanaburi.

MEA, a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Interior, is responsible for electricity distribution in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakarn, placing significant emphasis on energy conservation and environmental preservation. In 2023, MEA continues to host the Energy Mind Award Season 2 with the goal of building upon the achievements of previous years.

Participating schools, whether public or private, are encouraged to lead as models of energy conservation and environmental preservation, fostering a green mindset among youth to inspire future generations and contribute to Thailand's green movement.
