AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd., in its ongoing commitment to support society and promote human resources development, recently organised the "READ FOR BLIND" initiative. This initiative focuses on producing audiobooks for the blind using the titular application to broaden learning horizons for people with disabilities, allowing them to live a "Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai" together.
AP Thailand currently employs 28 visually impaired individuals as part of its mission to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities. On this occasion, Ms. Tippawan Sirikoon, Deputy Chief People Officer, represented AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd., in presenting a set of audiobooks and audiobook production equipment to Mr. Kittipong Sutthi, Director of the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, to support the library's Daisy Thailand Project.
Ms. Tippawan Sirikoon, Deputy Chief People Officer, AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd., said, "AP attaches great importance to and values people with disabilities. The support we provide aims to contribute to the effort to improve the quality of life for these individuals so that they can live on an equal footing with all of us. We have joined the effort to produce audiobooks as part of our READ FOR BLIND programme, which is crucial in expanding learning opportunities for visually impaired people. This initiative is vital in opening up life's opportunities for them, allowing them to live 'Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai' just like the rest of us. We firmly believe that people with disabilities have potential and worth, and they can play an important role in society alongside everyone else."
Mr. Kittipong Sutthi, Director of the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, stated, "Over 90% of audiobooks are produced by dedicated volunteers, as our library has a limited staff and a restricted number of audiobook reading rooms. Thus, we rely on volunteers to narrate audiobooks through our application. We are deeply grateful to AP Thailand for their support and for providing us with audiobooks and audiobook production equipment. These resources will enable people with vision impairment to access the best learning materials and information."
Currently, AP Thailand employs 28 individuals with vision impairments. Fifteen of them provide support to the AP team at the company's Ratchadapisek head office on a rotational basis, while the
remaining thirteen work for the company in various provinces across the country. They are permitted to pursue their specialised fields, such as teaching assistants and national team volleyball players. This aligns with AP's long-term mission to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities, enabling them to live on an equal footing with the rest of society and fostering a sense of pride among individuals with vision impairments.
