Mitr Phol Group, a leading sustainability player in the global food industry, has achieved its initial step towards becoming a net-zero carbon organisation, marking a momentous achievement with Mitr Phol Dan Chang in Suphanburi Province. This complex has earned the distinction of being Thailand's inaugural Carbon Neutrality Complex, a recognition conferred by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (Public Organisation), or TGO, in acknowledgment of its remarkable reduction of GHG emissions by over 270,000 tCO2eq.
In line with these remarkable accomplishments, Mitr Phol is committed to attaining its corporate objectives of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and reaching Net Zero by 2050.

Mitr Phol Dan Chang, located in Suphanburi Province, is a multifaceted complex comprising seven interconnected plants, originating from a sugar factory. Residual resources generated during the sugar production process are effectively utilised in biomass and bio-based power plants. Solar energy is harnessed across the site to enhance the efficiency of green energy, resulting in a reduction of GHG emissions exceeding 270,000 tCO2eq, which is equivalent to planting 300,000 rai of trees. The complex adheres to clear and comprehensive guidelines:
1. Green Energy: The complex utilises agricultural waste, such as bagasse or sugarcane leaves, to produce biomass power, supplemented by solar energy. This approach not only promotes green energy but also enhances efficiency, minimising losses, reducing fossil fuel consumption, and mitigating GHG emissions by over 185,000 tCO2eq.
2. Wastewater Management: An advanced activated sludge treatment technology has replaced traditional, space-consuming systems, resulting in high-quality treated water that is reusable. This transition has led to a reduction in GHG emissions of over 10,000 tCO2eq.
3. Carbon Offset: Mitr Phol Group has offset 75,000 tCOeq by participating in the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER).
Additionally, Mitr Phol Group has taken proactive measures, including the development of agricultural products following the BCG principles, the promotion of sustainable sugarcane farming practices, and the expansion of reforestation efforts to increase green spaces in Thailand.
