Embrace Timeless pride with Grand Seiko 'Sakura'

Grand Seiko in partnership with 8 celebrities unveil the ‘My Grand Seiko My Pride’ campaign to elaborate their pride with the iconic Grand Seiko Sakura watch.

Grand Seiko, the world-renowned luxury watch brand with a legacy spanning over 60 years unveils its ‘My Grand Seiko My Pride’ campaign, a unique partnership and collaboration with eight influential personalities. The campaign emphasizes not only a shared passion for success, but also concern for the environment as a form of contribution to society, which corresponds to the brand’s ‘Nature of Time’ philosophy. This campaign launch will coincide with the presentation of the iconic ‘Sakura’ model as a part of an exhibition to be held from  7-11 February 2024, (11.00 am - 8.00pm) at Fashion Hall, 1 Floor, Siam Paragon.  

Mr. Akira Sakairi, Managing Director of Grand Seiko, said “Grand Seiko has a long history more than 60 years with the creation of its new high-precision movement since 1998 that was the beginning of the Grand Seiko’s new era in mechanical movement development and manufacture. This also brought the new precision and efficiency standard which then set the unique ‘Grand Seiko Standard’ that is the superior level over the general ones in the watch industry. As our DNA, the dial designs are also inspired by the environment and nature surrounding the Grand Seiko Shizukuishi Studio where all the mechanical timepieces of Grand Seiko were created, reflecting the ‘Nature of Time’ philosophy and the essence of the brand as the high precision watch leader and the elaborate exceptional craftsmanship, such as the Zaratsu polishing, creating art and all the skillful technical identities of Grand Seiko.”

Mr. Pavaris Eam-ekpattana, Luxury Group Director of Grand Seiko reveal that the main objective of the ‘My Grand Seiko My Pride’ campaign is designed to encapsulate the essence of Grand Seiko as a world-class luxury watch brand through stories of proud moments with the timepiece.

“The popularity of the iconic ‘Sakura’ will be highlighted with 8 influential personalities sharing their prides on achievements and cherished moments in time,” he explains. “Part of the proceeds of the sales of this Sakura watch will benefit to the ‘Karen Hill Tribes Trust’, which is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the wellbeing of Karen people in Mae Hong Son Thailand The support will be directed towards education, water resources management, and campaigns for forest  conservation.

The highly anticipated launch of ‘My Grand Seiko My Pride’ campaign will be attending by a multitude of well-known VIPs which leading by the 8 personalities including Jay Spencer, Chulachak Chakrabongse, Mom Rajawongse Chalermchatri Yukol, Karoon Sosothikul, Apinara Srikarnchana, Sareena Teeravithayapinyo, Varit Hongsananda and Chaval Jiaravanon, together with will join the event and view the ‘My Grand Seiko My Pride’ exhibition.

The exhibition, meanwhile, will be divided into 3 spectacular zones which are;

The first zone, which is also the event focal point, features a display of ‘The First Grand Seiko 1960’. the rarely seen mechanical masterpiece has been sent from the museum in Japan to be displayed for the very first time in Thailand;

The second zone will host a photo exhibition portraying the eight personalities and the delight they find in the legendary timepiece, interwoven with the passion that propels them toward their prides of success.

Lastly, the ‘Private Collections’ zone which showcases the private collections from the most leading watch connoisseurs in Thailand such as Kosak Chairatsamisak, Prasat Wittayapat, Tanasan Vichitkarn who will share their pride in Grand Seiko by selecting the exclusive private pieces to be exhibited, such as Grand Seiko Vintage reference 4522-8000 from 1968.

Creating the warm welcome atmosphere with the Grand Seiko Café in the exhibition area for the first time and with the special creative menus inspired by the Grand Seiko iconic models to implement this exceptional experience exclusively for the watch aficionados in Thailand.

One of the highlights of the exhibition also includes the iconic Grand Seiko Sakura in a 40mm case for both men’s and ladies’ wrists. This watch comes with the beautiful and refined light pink dial inspired by the Hana-Ikada flowers spreading during Shunbun, a time period during the spring that the length of the day is equal to the night   and gives the flower-flow with the wind of the Sakura petals which then fall covering the river reflecting the cycle of nature which always changes with time.

This watch houses with the Spring Drive (9R) as the most precision movement in the world. Meanwhile, on the classic design case is finely finished with the combination of the brushed Hairline surfaces, the mirror-like Zaratsu polishing and the clear edge lines both on the case and the high-intensity titanium bracelet to extend the comfortable wearability and hypo-allergenicity that are the highlight features of the titanium. Edgeless case design also gives the seamless feeling on the dial and for more visibility that’s protected by the sapphire crystal with the anti-reflection coating on inside.
