TCMA Members Triumph in 2024 Green & Smart Mining Awards

The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) extends its congratulations to three of its member companies for securing the ‘Thailand Green & Smart Mining Awards 2024.’ Committed to advancing cement mining practices through technology and innovation, TCMA is on a path to achieve Net Zero GHG Emissions by 2050.

Dr. Chana Poomee, Chairman of the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association, disclosed that TCMA has adopted a critical policy encouraging its members—all Thai cement producers—to collectively enhance the Thai mining industry. This initiative aligns with the Green Mining approach and government policies on mineral resource efficiency, optimal land use (including repurposing old mines as water catchment areas, community learning centres, or other socially and environmentally beneficial facilities), and the development of innovation and technology. These efforts aim to steer the country’s mining industry towards Smart and Green Mining, and achieve Net Zero GHG Emissions by 2050.

“TCMA is proud to congratulate our three members—the Siam Cement (Kaeng Khoi) Co., Ltd., Asia Cement PCL, and the Siam Cement (Thung Song) Nakhon Si Thammarat Co., Ltd.—for being honoured with the Thailand Green & Smart Mining Awards 2024. This achievement highlights our members' dedication to green cement production and their exemplary performance in efficient mine management. TCMA is committed to fostering multilateral collaboration among our members to transform Thailand’s mining industry into one that is Smart and Green, realising the vision of a green economy and a low-carbon society. We are eager to collaborate with the government towards the sustainable development of our economy, managing our cement mines in alignment with the intentions of the Minerals Act B.E. 2560 (2017),” stated Dr. Chana Poomee.

The ‘Thailand Green & Smart Mining Awards 2024’ ceremony was graced by the presence of Ms. Pimpatra Wichaikul, Minister of Industry. Organised under the auspices of the National Policy Committee on Mineral Resources, the awards ceremony aims to honour mining operators who exemplify green mining standards and good governance, inspiring other operators towards green business practices and improved governance.
