BJC Tops Gender Equality Rankings in Thailand

The company secures national and global recognition for its commitment to gender parity and diversity.

Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC) has achieved the top position in Thailand and 11th globally among emerging market companies for its outstanding commitment to gender equality, according to Equileap, an independent, specialised data provider with a broad scope of gender equality and diversity & inclusion metrics. The assessment encompassed 65 companies in Thailand and 15,000 worldwide, positioning BJC as a leader in fostering gender parity in the workplace.

Equileap evaluates companies based on 19 key criteria organised into four categories: gender balance in leadership and workforce, equal compensation and work-life balance, policies promoting gender equality, and commitment, transparency, and accountability. BJC's consistent dedication to these principles is reflected in its top management's alignment with global trends and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), emphasising Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across its operations.

Currently, the ratio of male to female employees at BJC stands at 40% to 60%. The company has over 50% of women at all levels of its workforce, including all management positions. BJC's proactive approach to DEI extends beyond mere compliance with regulations. The company engages in various initiatives aimed at nurturing a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. Notably, BJC hosts annual engagement activities such as the DiverCity Project and DEI Trainings, culminating in an international forum on Business, Gender Diversity & the Path Ahead, held earlier this year. With over 1,000 attendees, this forum marked a significant milestone for Thailand, bringing together leaders from public and private sectors, diplomats, and academic institutions to advocate for gender equality.

Furthermore, BJC demonstrates its commitment to human rights and DEI through robust policies and progressive welfare benefits. By revamping employee benefits to cater equally to individuals of all genders, BJC ensures inclusivity and empowerment within its workforce. Initiatives such as parental leave for all genders, marriage leave for all, and support for gender-affirmative surgeries exemplify BJC's dedication to accommodating diverse needs and fostering authenticity among its employees.

Through its unwavering commitment to gender equality, BJC sets a precedent for corporate responsibility and societal progress, driving meaningful change both within the organisation and in the broader community.
