KUALA LUMPUR — Twenty-two Pakistanis have been arrested in Malaysia following a drug raid near the capital, a senior police official said Monday.
Officers recovered 34 kilogrammes of heroin during the raid on Saturday in several containers found in a shop lot in Desa Melawati just outside Kuala Lumpur, according to police anti-narcotics chief Mokhtar Shariff.
Mr Mokhtar said the containers in which the drugs were hidden came from Karachi in Pakistan.
"The drugs were intended to be trafficked in western countries and not for the local market," he told a press conference at the main police headquarters.
