Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., a pioneer in the Thai energy sector for over 60 years, stands as a beacon of leadership and dedication in providing cleaner energy solutions for the nation.

A History of Excellence

For the past 60 years, Chevron has been a stalwart in the Thai energy sector. Their impressive track record has recently been acknowledged with the prestigious AMCHAM Corporate Social Impact Award, an honour they have received for 14 consecutive years. This recognition underscores Chevron’s commitment to being a steadfast partner in Thai society, particularly in the realm of clean energy initiatives.

Chevron’s dedication to providing cleaner energy solutions aligns seamlessly with Thailand’s aspirations for a greener and more sustainable future. They have played a pivotal role in shaping the energy landscape, ensuring a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally conscious approach to power generation and distribution.

The 4Es Policy: A Blueprint for Responsible Energy

At the heart of Chevron’s success lies its 4Es policy – an approach that encapsulates their commitment to Energy & Environment, Education, Economic Development, and Employee Engagement. This comprehensive strategy drives Chevron’s efforts to create a positive impact on Thai society beyond just being an energy provider. Not to mention Chevron’s Net Zero ambition by 2050.

The Energy & Environment aspect focuses on Chevron’s pursuit of clean and sustainable energy sources. Their investments in energy and environment conservation projects have been vital in reducing the nation’s carbon footprint and moving towards a greener future. Chevron’s “Lower Carbon Biogas Rubber Project” aims to establish a model for a low-carbon emissions rubber cooperative in Songkhla province utilising technologies to reducing carbon emissions in rubber sheet production.

Committed to strengthening communities and protecting the environment, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. (CTEP), Chevron (Thailand) Limited (CTL), and Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited (SPRC) launched the ‘Foster Future Forests’ project, in conjunction with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), Rayong Provincial Government, other government agencies, academic institutions, and local communities in Rayong. The project’s objective is to initiate ecological restoration at a 100-rai under-developed area of the ‘Phra Chedi Klang Nam’ mangrove forests, situated in Pak Nam subdistrict, Mueang district, Rayong province, starting with the expansion of green space to aid in carbon sequestration.

In terms of Economic Development, Chevron is a staunch advocate of preserving Thailand’s natural heritage. Initiatives like the Chevron Fund for Life, operating for over nine years, offers support to women in the three border provinces of the southern region of Thailand. It has established several community-based women occupational groups by equipping them with knowledge, resources, and financial assistance to develop small-scale community businesses with the potential for growth and prosperity.

Education is another key pillar, as Chevron recognises the importance of empowering the next generation. The Marine Ecology Camp, running for three decades, provides students with hands-on experience and knowledge in marine conservation, fostering environmental stewardship from a young age.

Lastly, Employee Engagement signifies Chevron’s commitment to collaborating with local communities. Chevron’s WeVolunteer program strives to boost employee engagement, fostering positive impacts on society through initiatives in education support, energy and environmental conservation, and economic development. Every year, Chevron and hundreds of its employees collaborate with government agencies, academics, and communities in diverse projects, ranging from tree planting to playground construction.

A Royal Recognition

Adding to their list of achievements, Chevron was recently honoured by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during the Thai Heritage Conservation Day ceremony. This recognition highlights Chevron’s outstanding contributions to Thai cultural and artistic heritage as a supporting organisation during 2023 (B.E. 2566).

Sustainable Legacy of Chevron Thailand

Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd.’s legacy is one of dedication, innovation, and responsible leadership. Their commitment to cleaner energy solutions, as well as their unwavering dedication to social responsibility, is not just commendable; it is a testament to their enduring partnership with Thailand and its people. As Chevron continues to pave the way for a more sustainable future, their impact on Thailand’s energy landscape will undoubtedly shine brighter with each passing year.
