To mark the 10th anniversary of the film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, and its historic Palme d'Or win at the Cannes Film Festival 2010, the Thai Film Archive is hosting a special live talk with director Apichatpong Weerasethakul to be broadcast at the archive's Facebook page, today at 4pm.

Called Lung Boonmee Raluek Chat in Thai, the movie tells the story of an Isan man who's dying from kidney disease and his encounters with the spirit of his dead wife and his "monkey ghost" son. The narrative is also deeply rooted in the history of the Northeast and its sometimes violent past.

For those wishing to learn more about the director and this movie, the Thai Film Archive also presents a commemorative article that gives a picture of what the movie is all about and how its winning the Palme d'Or award at Cannes is so meaningful to the film industry in Thailand. The article is written in Thai by film critic Kong Rithdee and can be read at fapot.or.th/main/information/article/view/270.

The talk will be in Thai, with a real-time English summary, and will be broadcast via facebook.com/ThaiFilmArchivePage.
