No better time than now to watch Bollywood

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

If you've always wanted to watch a Bollywood film, there's no better time than now.

The Bollywood selection that screens exclusively at Major Cineplex has been on hiatus over the past year thanks to Covid-19, but it has finally returned. Catch the latest movies at Major Cineplex Sukhumvit, Iconsiam and Pattaya at a new normal price of 250 baht. Although premium pricing will apply at movie halls in EmQuartier and Siam Paragon, it will still be lower than the pre-Covid price of 350 baht. Keep your eyes on the Bollywood Bangkok and Major Cineplex Facebook pages for updates about upcoming Indian movies as they will offer tickets at even better prices.

Super blockbusters such as Sooryavanshi and 83, which feature A-listers such as Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, had to wait an entire year for cinemas to open before releasing. These two films will definitely make it to Thai shores also.

On March 11, catch horror-comedy Roohi, starring Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and actress Sridevi's daughter, Janhvi Kapoor. The plot revolves around strange circumstances, which forces two friends, Bauuan and Kattanni, to become stuck in a forest with Roohi. Bauuan falls in love with Roohi but it turns into quite a journey after it becomes apparent that Roohi has a split-personality called Afza, whom Kattanni happens to fall for.

Meanwhile, on March 19, the black-comedy thriller Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra) and action-crime Mumbai Saga featuring John Abraham as real-life gangster Amartya Rao will be released.

India's movie industry is also adept at producing sports biopics and viewers can cheer on as they watch Saina, set to be released on March 26. The biographical sports drama follows the life of badminton player Saina Nehwal, a former world No.1 who has represented India three times at the Olympics. Moreover, viewers can also enter the cop world of Sooryavanshi, which is due to release on April 2. Directed by Rohit Shetty and featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, expect eye-popping action that is best enjoyed on the big screen.
