The “Beauty Of Decay”, a solo art exhibition by JM Robert, is the latest series of Rosewood Bangkok’s quarterly rotating exhibitions showcasing local and international artists.

Robert is an alumnus of Institut National des Métiers d’Art in Paris. His distinct vision in art is deeply rooted in his fascination with the aesthetics of dilapidated architectural structures.

He began painting at an early age by reproducing the effects of patina, dirt and the degradations observed on the walls of old buildings.

Later studying the professional techniques of “trompe l’œil”, he gradually developed his own style using incisive and powerful graphics and stencil sketches on abstract backgrounds reminiscing of crumbling surfaces.

The “Beauty Of Decay” presents a fresh perspective of beauty in a bold graphic style that fuses pop art and street art influences innovatively. Against a rich tapestry of colours and rough textures, his artistic rendition aims to arouse interest and perturbation at the same time.

The work also celebrates women as the new conquerors of wisdom, inviting viewers to recognise and honour feminine strength, grace, emotion and resilience. Various artistic techniques are used in the paintings including graffiti, scraping and scratching.

The “Beauty Of Decay” is held at Art Gallery on the 3rd floor of Rosewood Bangkok on Phloen Chit Road. The exhibition opens daily to the public.
