SEA Junction, a Thai nonprofit organisation and foundation, is calling for contributions to its grant-making programme "Build Resilience Of Communities Amid The Covid-19 Pandemic In Southeast Asia".

Launched last June with support of the China Medical Board and with contributions by Women In Informal Employment: Globalizing And Organizing, the three-year programme aims to provide resources to grassroots and civil society groups to strengthen community resilience, enhance their capacity to cope with the current situation, and address equity concerns related to the pandemic. The grants, averaging US$3,000 (90,000 baht), are small but often essential for groups overlooked by government initiatives and larger donors.

Besides providing financing, the programme also shares relevant Covid-19 and health equity information and knowledge, fosters cross-fertilisation of ideas and interventions, and helps build networks and encourages joint advocacy activities.

SEA Junction has selected and provided funds to 13 initiatives in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines on different issues including arts and culture, migration, gender, rural development, waste management and education.

As the need is overwhelming, SEA Junction is looking for ways to increase the budget available for the next batch of applications planned for this month.

Interested people are encouraged to support this crowdfunding effort. Any donation no matter the amount will go a long way toward mitigating the impacts of Covid-19 and strengthening the community-based response to the pandemic.

Donations can be made via bank transfer to TMB account Foundation for Southeast Asia Studies, account number 043-7-18114-2 or, alternatively, via PayPal and credit cards via seajunction.org/how-to-engage/donation.
