The best seasonal fruits from across the country are available during the "Thai Fruit Festival", which is running at all branches of Gourmet Market and Home Fresh Mart until June 2 and at the Grand Hall of The Mall Bangkae from tomorrow to May 26 and the Event Hall of The Mall Lifestore Ngamwongwan from May 27 to June 6.
This is the only opportunity to shop for more than 150 premium-grade fruits with the best flavours direct from famous orchards whose qualities are guaranteed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and other entities.
Durian lovers can browse through over 20 varieties including monthong and kanyao from Nonthanburi, chanee from Koh Chang, nuan thong chan, lhong lub lae and lin lub lae from Uttaradit, pa la u, and phu khao fai from Sri Sa Ket.
They will also discover rare ancient varieties such as chom pu pan, daeng sao noi, thong yoy chat, thong lin jong, kob rasmee, and Chantaburi 1. Special highlights are varieties from Chanthaburi such as nok kayib, kob pikun, and puang manee 100 years.
The fair also brings pa chid lychees from BN farm in Phetchabun and hong huay and chakrapad lychees from Chiang Mai; 200 year mangosteens from Suan Thong Chan in Chanthaburi and organic mangosteens from Suan Pol Um Pai in Trat; longon from Suan Loong Soontorn in Rayong; and rongrean rambutans from Trat.
Other notable fruits include mango varieties including maha chanok and kiew sam rod; phu chawa pineapples; phet klong hat rose apples; nam hom coconuts; hong pao sue guavas; honeymoon and thumbup watermelons; Hawaii passion fruit; and crystal longans (matoa).
