Ode to the 70s
Creative director Andrea Pompilio harked back to the 1970s in fashioning the new Acromount Series from Onitsuka Tiger's summer 2021 collection.
The sneakers are inspired by archival models from that decade. The design of the sole with a thin forefoot and voluminous midfoot, which were characteristics of track and field spikes at the time, has been updated with a mix of lightweight sponge and rubber to cater to modern lifestyles.
The low-cut and middle-cut Acromount models feature a combination of fabric and leather with a vintage feel. The oversized Onitsuka Tiger Stripes in contrasting colours accentuate the classic upper design.
Pompilio also drew inspiration from 1970s training jackets for the Acromount Knit model, whose upper is made from a knit material that softly envelops the foot.
The Acromount Series is available at Onitsuka Tiger Global Flagship Store in Siam Square One, Bangkok.
