Photo contest hopes to 'Rediscover Thailand'

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

It has been nearly two years that the Thai tourism industry has been negatively affected by the pandemic. A positive side, however, seems to be the revival of nature that has made many destinations even more beautiful than before.

As the country is ready for reopening to fully vaccinated tourists, the Tourism Authority of Thailand in collaboration with Leica Camera Thailand has launched the "Rediscover Thailand" campaign that offers an opportunity to people who want to contribute to the recovery of local tourism and the economy.

They are invited to share photos of tourist attractions, accommodations, people, food and beautiful nature especially rare attractions that most tourists aren't aware of, on their social media accounts -- be it Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

The photos should come with the hashtag #RediscoverThailand and locations of the sites should also be provided along with a message describing their impression.

Leica Camera Thailand will select some of the recommended attractions and organise a trip and have its brand ambassador photographers -- Tul Hirunyalawan, Chut Janthachotibutr and Peerapat Wimolrungkarat -- capture the beautiful pictures at each location.

Their photos will be passed on to the Tourism Authority of Thailand and other press to help promote Thai tourism.

The campaign will not only encourage travellers to explore new destinations and get new travelling experiences but also support local communities. It is running until Dec 31.
