With the Mid-Autumn Festival around the corner, Iconsiam is another must-go venue for those looking for sumptuous mooncakes as it gathers different variations from top hotels and famous restaurants under the same roof, until Sunday.

This is the only time of year to enjoy unique recipes of the tasty treats that come with attractive packaging from favourite eateries within the shopping centre.

Visitors have a choice of traditional mooncakes with flavours like chestnut macadamia and yuzu macadamia from Jumbo Seafood; a mixture of Thai and Japanese flavours from Kyo Roll En; signature recipes from Starbucks; and new fillings such as mocha almond, Chinese Jujube with sweet osmanthus flower tea, and coconut custard lava from S&P.

At Sooksiam on the ground floor, the "Pia Wai Phra Chan Festival" features a special filling of mixed nuts with Yunnan pork knuckle from Gokjai, the first restaurant in Thailand that initiated authentic mooncakes with durian filling 80 years ago.

This year, the restaurant also presents "Jumbo Mooncakes" that are 10cm in diameter and 1kg in weight. Crafted from an ancient wooden block, each creation has a durian filling and six salted egg yolks.

For those preferring khanom pia, or Chinese-style flaky pastry, as offerings to the Moon, there are a variety of traditional recipes from legendary shops such as Khanom Pia Hiab Lee, Khanom Pia Nong Jok Ngo Hang Heng, and Khanom Pia Mae Sri Muang.

Alternatively, Khanom Pia Baan Khun Chui offers healthy pastries made from low-fat dough and stuffed with premium monthong durian and sun-dried banana.

Many more mooncakes with signature fillings packed in gorgeous boxes from 5-star hotels are available at Siam Takashimaya, also on the ground floor, until Saturday.

They include contemporary-style mooncakes handcrafted by chefs of Pagoda Chinese restaurant from Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park; legendary egg-custard mooncakes by chefs of Chinese restaurant Mei Jiang from Shangri-La Bangkok; mooncakes in five fillings from Anantara Siam Bangkok; and mooncakes in two choices of luxurious gift boxes from The Athenee Hotel.

Another highlight is mooncakes from Thung Thong restaurant which comes up with a special filling of pandan leaves with sweet egg floss. For the first time, the restaurant also introduces nine different fillings called "Kao Sian", featuring a combination of bakery fillings and the traditional stuffing of mooncakes.
