Superstar chefs headline World Gourmet Festival

The 22nd World Gourmet Festival at Anantara Siam hotel is showcasing an international selection of highly-acclaimed star-studded guest chefs until Sept 11. A series of exclusive dinners by chefs Peter Gast of the Michelin-starred Graphite restaurant in Amsterdam; Davide Caranchini of Italy's Michelin-starred Materia restaurant in Como; and Amerigo Sesti of Bangkok's own Michelin-starred French restaurant J'aime by Jean-Michel Lorain, are being held today and tomorrow. Prices are 6,500-7,500 baht per person inclusive of wine pairing.

The featured menu includes langoustine with pumpkin, vanilla, orange, pork and cream sherry; lobster with onion, asparagus, sea herbs and mussel curry; and Anjou pigeon with nashi pear, red beet and lentil, some of Gast's imaginative European cuisine dishes.

Caranchini presents contemporary Italian cuisine dishes through almond with buffalo mozzarella, oyster and chicory; lamb with artichokes and pecorino cheese; and linguine with butter, colatura di alici (Italian fish sauce) and amchoor (mango spice).

From Sesti is modern French fare such as pan-seared foie gras with lemon balm and fish sauce consommé; white sea bass with Mandarin marmalade, basil and smoked paprika; and pigeon breast with butternut squash purée and Lapsang Souchong tea infusion.

There is also a selection of master classes on cooking, wine and pastries hosted by the experts. Prices are 1,000-1,500 baht per class.
