Amateur and professional photographers who love diving have until April 18 to submit images that show beauty underneath the sea to the 16th TDEX Underwater Photo Contest to vie for prizes worth over 400,000 baht.

Held to promote Thailand's scuba diving tourism and raise awareness of marine life and environmental conservation, the contest is divided into five categories.

They include Macro, Wide Angle, Portfolio (a set of five photos telling a story or depicting underwater diversity), Human/Nature Award (focusing on the relationship between humans and nature in either a positive or negative light), and Talay Thai Award (focusing on the beauty of Thai sea).

Any type of camera can be used for every type of photo entered in the contest. However, all images must be taken between Nov 1 last year and April 16 (except the Portfolio category which has an unrestricted period). Each entry must include a description of the photography concept.

Top winners of the first three categories will receive a cash prize of 30,000 baht each, while each winner of the last two categories will be awarded 25,000 baht in cash, plus a stay voucher at The Beach Club, Koh Tao.

There will be three special prizes presented by Prodive and Panunee Yacht -- Grand Prize, Best Compact and Best Action, for those who use compact (a camera that cannot change lens) or action cameras; as well as one more special prize presented by Garmin Thailand for an entry produced from any type of cameras that best matches the "For Both Your Worlds" concept.

The submission deadline is April 18. Winners will be announced during Thailand Dive Expo 2023 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, on May 18.
