As a restaurant reviewer whose work revolves around Bangkok's bustling downtown, it's always nice to get out and get some fresh air.

Recently, a 35-minute drive from the city centre led to an impressive discovery — gastronomic and leisure-wise — and the trip truly proved worthy.

Patio is an all-day restaurant at Topgolf Megacity, an ultramodern sports complex in Bang Na.

Topgolf is one of the world's most recognised sports entertainment platform.

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in the US, the brand features climate-controlled hitting bays for year-round play as well as a wide range of games, food, music, golf lessons and functional spaces.

The company has more than 70 locations around the globe, including Australia, China, Germany, Mexico, UAE and the UK. Its newly-opened Megacity complex, located behind Megabangna, is the brand's first outpost in Southeast Asia.

Patio Restaurant occupies a breezy 120-seat space next to a mini putting area and has a panoramic vista of the 205-yard driving range. Culinary-wise, it offers comfortable cuisine created by German executive chef Daniel Bucher.

Chef Daniel is also Topgolf Thailand's Food Sustainability Manager. Thus, prime-quality and ethically-produced food is always key to the F&B concept here.

The restaurant's 100-item menu features all-day breakfast — Western and Thai style, salads, light bites, sandwiches — hoagies, burgers and open-faced tartines, pizzas, pasta dishes and desserts as well as a kids menu. Prices start from 90 baht for a hoagie egg sandwich to 360 baht for a big breakfast set.

Dishes are prepared mainly with homemade ingredients or fine organic products by artisan food producers including meat products from Sloane's, boutique cheese and yoghurt from Homemade Cheese Co, coffee beans from Karo roaster, jasmine rice from Raitong Organics and free-ranged hen eggs from Hilltribe Organics.

The kitchen's culinary creations are not only sustainable but also sharable and Instagrammable.

A glass of the refreshing Yuzu Espresso Fizz or the rich and milky Dirty Tiger is highly recommended for those wishing to start their day with an aromatic and full-bodied caffeine dose.

Follow it up with a Topgolf Egg Benedict, a hot-off-the-griddle platter of house-special bacon sausages, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce on English muffins.

Smoked salmon here is carefully prepared in-house using a competition-grade LANG BBQ smoker, imported from the US. Try it as a part of a salad, tartine or Benedict.

Also recommended is the Breakfast Burrito, which features delicious pork carnitas, scrambled egg and cheddar cheese in soft tortilla wraps with tomato salsa and hot sauce on the side.

A collection of jok haeng dishes impressively represent chef Daniel’s take on Thai-styled morning treats.

The local classic jok (rice porridge) is slowly cooked and reduced until it develops a very thick and silky "pudding-like" consistency while providing a glorious taste and aroma of Thai jasmine rice. The dish comes with toppings such as prawns, minced pork and mushrooms.

Other options include Nordic Shrimp Tartine with herb yoghurt dressing, Cobb Salad and Sourdough Patty Melt with French fries.

Promising to wrap up the meal nicely are khanom pung ping, a Yaowarat-styled charcoal grilled milk bread with homemade Thai tea custard filling, and Buckwheat Waffle with caramelised banana and gooey chocolate sauce.

The high-standard hospitality and excellent F&B service at Topgolf Megacity are ensured by an always-hands-on management team.

As an ideal destination of play, food and fun for everyone in the family, the complex also highlights 102 technology-enabled driving bays that line across three floors and are jazzed up by upbeat tunes.

Each bay is equipped with a wide range of golfing games for both amateur and advanced players as well as a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system. The place is a great spot for social gatherings and corporate events and can cater to up to 1200 people.

A special promotional price of 550 baht for up to six people per bay per hour is now on offer. This excludes 5-10pm, Friday to Sunday, which costs 950 baht per bay per hour.
