Roaring into spring

Originally associated with sports, Onitsuka Tiger roars onto the runway with ready-to-wear designed by Andrea Pompilio. The spring/summer 2024 collection is more sophisticated and elegant through flowing silhouettes and floral prints.

Layered clothing from Japanese culture inspired last season's "Urban Layering" concept. The Italian creative director builds on this theme with the sequel "Personal Layered" for upcoming spring.

Combining layers as well as asymmetries, gathers, cutouts and using margins allows an infinite number of personal styling expressions.

The voluminous layering method is expressed through cocoon silhouette outerwear and lightweight coats while underneath, tops, shirts, polo shirts, Bermuda shorts and wide trousers create asymmetrical layers.

Men's classics are reinterpreted in a contemporary way with soft yet rigorous tailoring, covering but not hiding the details, such as fabric layers and textures.

For women, transparencies, asymmetries and innovative cutouts show or hint at the body while fabrics include see-through nylon knit that reveals the skin.

Tank tops with side slits, dresses and T-shirts with cutouts, jersey skirts and canvas Bermuda shorts bring unexpected silhouettes to the layering.

Fisherman's rib knitted jumpers and cardigans are playfully designed with cutouts below the sleeve joints. The transformable knitwear can be worn conventionally or with the arms exposed and sleeves knotted on the chest.

Pompilio mainly worked on a palette of black, cement grey and sage green while the brand's iconic Tiger Yellow shade appears in some pieces as well as bags and footwear.

The creative director welcomes spring with floral prints inspired by the four elements -- earth, wind, water and fire.

The prints were created in collaboration with Japanese textile graphic label nowartt, whose name refers to two concepts, "now art textile" and "no war textile". The graphics are considered works of art that convey the message: Comfort in harmony with nature.
