On Dec 27, K-drama fans mourned the loss of the renowned South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun who was found dead in an apparent suicide. Besides his best-known role in the 2019 Academy Award–winning movie Parasite, Lee had a number of roles that showcased his versatility and talent. Here are some of his memorable works.

Pasta is the story of Seo, who dreams of becoming a chef at Italian restaurant La Sfera. Lee portrays Choi, a graduate of a culinary school in Italy, who becomes the new head chef at La Sfera. Choi is an unusual leading character. He is unlikable, hotheaded, arrogant and has an attitude towards female chefs. He can turn a kitchen into hell if he spots any mistake. However, Seo admires him and wants to learn from him. Lee created the character of Choi to be unique and intriguing to watch, although some viewers may not like him.

This action suspense movie kicks off when Ko (Lee), a corrupt detective, accidentally hits a man on the road while driving to his mother's funeral. In a moment of panic, Ko decides to hide the body in his mother's coffin. Unfortunately, his victim is involved with gangsters who are searching for him.

Lee proved that he could portray any character in any movie genre, including this action movie. His portrayal of Ko is a showcase of natural intensity and the internal struggle of a man fighting for survival. A Hard Day is an exhilarating rollercoaster ride that will keep you glued to the screen until the end.

Many people may think that good prevailing doesn't exist in real life, but this heartwarming TV drama will encourage viewers to believe in good deeds and humanity once again.

It tells the story of two people. Park Dong-hoon (played by Lee), a hardworking engineer caring for his family, and Lee Ji-an, a struggling worker paying off her mum's debt. Their paths cross when the CEO has an affair with Park's wife and tries to fire him. Lee, initially antagonistic towards Park, gradually finds herself drawn to his honesty and kindness.

Due to its flawless scriptwriting and convincing acting, My Mister is a masterpiece for Lee. He portrays his character naturally, and every aspect of his performance makes perfect sense, drawing viewers into the authenticity of the story.
