Little fans of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will be delighted with a new opera and puppet performances during "The Story Of The Long-Gone Animals" concert, at Prince Mahidol Hall of Mahidol University, Salaya campus, on Saturday, at 4pm.

Held to celebrate Wan Dek, or Children's Day, the concert is a collaboration with the Classical Voice and Musical Theatre Department of Mahidol University to present a newly-written opera for children The Story Of The Long-Gone Animals.

The story is about Dao Nua, a little girl who is so sick she must stay home and take medicine every day. She feels lonely and discouraged until one day, a strange thing happens: a Dodo bird appears and brings her to the land of extinct animals.

The audiences will be part of this vibrant and enchanting musical journey, including various kinds of puppet performances through the world of creatures from a bygone era. The opera is composed by Krisada Reyes and the puppet performances are presented by Sutarath Sinnong, Nimit Pipitkul and Semathai Foundation. Acting as stage director will be Napisi Reyes.

Prior to the show, there will be fun games, arts and crafts, interactive musical exhibits, live performances, food and drinks, and even a lucky draw with prizes up for grabs. This is the first-ever kid's musical fun fair designed for the whole families. The festivities begin at 2pm, followed by the concert at 4pm.

Tickets for the concert cost 700, 1,200 and 1,400 baht (half price for students and seniors, and free for children under six) and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major outlets (visit thaiticketmajor.com or call 02-262-3456) and Prince Mahidol Hall (call 02-849-6565 ext 6604 or 6609).
